‘Abd al-‘Azīz Šams Tahānīsarī,
Tarjuma-yi Bārāhī
[Preliminary Entry] The Bṛhatsaṃhitā is a Sanskrit work on astrology, astronomy and other sciences by Varāhamihira (6th century). It was translated into Persian at the request of the sultan of Delhi Fīrūz Šāh Tuġluq (r. 1351-1388). The Persian translation was made by ‘Abd al-‘Azīz Šams Tahānīsarī, known as Šams-i Sirāj ‘Afīf, the author of the historical work Tārīḫ-i Fīrūz Šāhī.
